Private Pilots License (H)
The aim of the PPL(H) course is to train the student pilot to act without remuneration as Pilot in Command or co-pilot of helicopters engaged in non-commercial operations under the Visual Flight Rules. Unlike the LAPL(H) course you can carry more than four persons and fly larger helicopters, upon completion of additional training.
- The PPL(H) course comprises 45 hours of flight instruction including at least 35 hours of dual flight instruction and 10 hours of supervised solo flight time, including 5 hours of solo cross country flight time.
- Within the 5 hours solo cross-country flight time you will complete cross-country flight of at least 185 km (100 NM), during which two full stop landings at two aerodrome different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made.
- Complete nine multiple choice theoretical knowledge examinations. The theoretical knowledge syllabus is covered through a combination of distance learning, formal classroom work and revision tutorials.
There are no pre-entry requirements for the PPL(H) course, however you will need to meet the following requirements at various stages of your training:
Must be able to hold a medical issued in accordance with Part-MED before first solo, to at least Class II standard.
Minimum age for first solo is 16 years
Minimum age for licence issue is 17 years
Demonstrate evidence of English proficiency to at least ICAO Level 4
